How to Play SuperEnalotto Outside Italy: A Practical Guide

Updated: 2026-11-02

SuperEnalotto is run under Italian state control, and Sisal's own online channel requires a verified account in your name, so non-residents usually either check Sisal's eligibility rules or use a ticket messenger service that buys an official ticket for them. Whichever route you take, check the terms, the claim rules and your local law first.

If you live outside Italy, there are two realistic ways to play SuperEnalotto. You can try to open an account with Sisal, the operator of the game, or you can use a ticket messenger service such as LottoWin, which buys an official Italian ticket on your behalf. Sisal's online channel requires you to prove you are an adult, open an account in your own name and submit an ID document. Whether a non-resident can open one is not confirmed in the official material we checked, so verify that with Sisal directly.

Before you pick a route, understand what you are buying. SuperEnalotto is a state-reserved game, so you cannot get the same lottery from a private operator. Prizes carry Italian tax rules and a fixed claim deadline. The odds are long, and no method improves them. The rest of this guide covers those points in order.

Your options for playing from abroad

Buying directly from Sisal

Italy's lottery and gaming system is reserved to the state and run through concessions overseen by the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (ADM). Sisal's online game requires an account in your own name, an age check and an ID document. Access is not anonymous.

What the official sources do not confirm is how far a non-resident foreigner can use this channel. If you want to go this way, ask Sisal before relying on it. Source for the account requirements: Sisal SuperEnalotto.

Using a ticket messenger service

A messenger service buys a genuine Italian ticket for you, so you do not have to be in Italy or hold a Sisal account. LottoWin has done this for international players since 2004. You choose your numbers on the SuperEnalotto purchase page, and the ticket is bought for you.

Because you are not the one at the counter, read the service's terms on three points:

  • how your ticket is recorded and how you can see it
  • how prizes of different sizes are paid out to you
  • what fees or conditions apply to a win

The last two matter because Sisal's public documents describe the claim process mostly in terms of presenting the original ticket, identity checks, visiting a Sisal Prize Office and the deadline. We did not find an explicit official rule saying that a power of attorney, trust or courier can claim a large prize on someone's behalf. Do not assume it works the same way for every prize size. Read the terms before you buy.

A general note: lottery rules differ from country to country, so check whether buying a foreign lottery ticket is allowed where you live.

What you are playing for: the prize tiers

In the main game you try to match six numbers. A seventh number, the Jolly, only matters if you match five. Official tiers and odds from Sisal (as of 1 April 2026):

MatchPrizeOdds
6Jackpot (varies by draw)1 in 622,614,630
5+1 (with Jolly)€311,0001 in 103,769,105
5€32,0001 in 1,250,230
4€3001 in 11,907
3€251 in 327
2€51 in 22

What 5+1 means

5+1 means you matched five of the six main numbers and also the Jolly number. It has its own prize tier, listed at €311,000. The Jolly does not add a bonus to other tiers.

Fixed amounts and the jackpot

Sisal publishes reference amounts for the lower tiers, such as €32,000 for five, €300 for four, €25 for three and €5 for two. The jackpot changes from draw to draw. Some payout procedures and after-tax amounts follow separate rules, so the headline figure is not always what lands in your account.

There is no annuity or cash-option choice like the one in the US Powerball. Sisal's public information describes the jackpot, the reference prizes and the Jolly and SuperStar systems, and nothing more.

The SuperStar add-on

SuperStar is an optional extra with its own additional draw. You pick one more number, the Star, and it can create extra prizes on top of the main game. Sisal lists these (as of 1 April 2026):

MatchPrizeOdds
6 + StarSuperBonus €2,000,0001 in 56 billion
5 + Star (with Jolly)SuperBonus €1,000,0001 in 9 billion
5 + Star25 times the 5-match prize1 in 112.5 million
4 + Star100 times the 4-match prize1 in 1,071,626
3 + Star100 times the 3-match prize1 in 29,404
2 + Star€1001 in 1,936
1 + Star€101 in 303
0 + Star€51 in 138

Source: Sisal, quanto si vince.

The SuperStar can change a small win into a larger one. The top SuperStar prizes are very unlikely.

Understanding the odds honestly

The chance of hitting the jackpot is 1 in 622,614,630. Even the 3-match prize comes up about once in 327 tries, and the 2-match prize about once in 22.

Draws are random. Every valid combination has the same chance, and no number choice, pattern or system makes a win more likely. Treat a ticket as paid entertainment, not as an investment, and never spend money you cannot afford to lose.

Tax and claim rules to know about

Tax on winnings

Italian guidance says prizes from state-licensed numerical lotteries are charged at 20% on the portion above €500. For SuperEnalotto and Italian-sold EuroJackpot, large wins therefore pay out less than the official figure. Source: Agenzia delle Entrate. How this applies to a winner who lives abroad, including any tax in your home country, depends on your situation. Ask a tax adviser; we cannot confirm it from the official material.

The 90-day deadline

According to Sisal's FAQ, winning tickets generally have to be presented within 90 days, counted from the day after publication of the Bollettino Ufficiale Generale. Treat 90 days as the working limit. If you use a messenger service, find out how quickly it will tell you about a win. Source: Sisal, how to collect a win.

How the amount changes the process

For tickets bought in Italy, Sisal describes three bands:

  • Under €5,200: an online or app purchase can be credited directly to the account.
  • €5,200 to €52,000: a designated prize point or the Sisal Prize Office handles it.
  • Above €52,000: the prize can only be claimed at the Sisal Prize Office in Milan or Rome.

For EuroJackpot, Sisal also says that payments above €5,200 go through a verification step by a commission set up by ADM. SuperEnalotto's own page does not say the same, so do not assume it applies. Large wins take extra checks, not an instant payout. Source: Sisal EuroJackpot.

Checklist before you buy

  • Confirm that playing an Italian lottery from your country is allowed.
  • If you try Sisal directly, ask whether a non-resident can open an account.
  • If you use a messenger service, read how it handles prizes of every size and what fees apply.
  • Remember the 20% tax on the part above €500 and the 90-day deadline.
  • Set a budget before you start, and treat every ticket as money spent on entertainment.

For a broader overview of the game, see the SuperEnalotto introduction. When you are ready to enter, the purchase page is where to do it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play SuperEnalotto if I do not live in Italy?

You can use a ticket messenger service such as LottoWin, which buys an official ticket for you. Sisal's own online channel needs a verified account in your name with ID, and whether a non-resident can open one is not confirmed in the official sources we checked. Also check whether playing a foreign lottery is allowed where you live.

What are the odds of winning the SuperEnalotto jackpot?

Sisal lists the jackpot odds as 1 in 622,614,630. Matching 5+1 is 1 in 103,769,105, matching 5 is 1 in 1,250,230, and matching 2 is 1 in 22. Draws are random, so no way of choosing numbers changes these odds.

What does 5+1 mean in SuperEnalotto?

It means you matched five of the six main numbers and also the Jolly number. This has its own prize tier of €311,000. The Jolly has no other role in the prize tiers.

Is SuperEnalotto prize money taxed?

Under Italian guidance for state-licensed numerical lotteries, 20% applies to the portion of a prize above €500, so large wins pay less than the official figure. How this works for a winner living abroad, including any tax at home, is not confirmed in the official material. A tax adviser can tell you.

How long do I have to claim a SuperEnalotto prize?

Sisal's FAQ says winning tickets generally have to be presented within 90 days, counted from the day after the Bollettino Ufficiale Generale is published. If you play through a messenger service, check its terms for how quickly you will be told about a win.

Is there an annuity or cash option like Powerball?

Sisal's official information does not show an annuity-or-cash choice like the one in the US Powerball. It describes the draw's jackpot, the reference prizes for lower tiers, and the Jolly and SuperStar systems.

Lottery draws are random and no strategy changes the odds. Play only with money you can afford to lose. 18+.
